Vetting Management

Vetting Management

SAFE, RELIABLE, EFFICIENT & COMPLIANT

V.Ships manage in excess of 700 Oil Major vetting inspections each year.  The magnitude of this exposure has led to the development of a streamlined approach to the inspection process.  A number of experienced training Superintendents dedicated to crew training and pre-vetting attend vessels in advance to assist ship’s staff with preparation and execution of the inspection.  The response to each inspection is then coordinated by a vetting focal point at each regional office to ensure a sufficient level of assurance, incorporating root cause analysis, is delivered consistently.

Data from each inspections is collected centrally and analysed for trends and weaknesses.  This approach has delivered consistent improvements to our client’s vetting performance over the last four years; benchmarking favourably against our competitors.  The twelve V.Ships offices currently managing tankers all use a common Safety Management System; as a consequence, our Safety Management System is one of the most audited systems in industry due to the volume of Oil Major TMSA audits.  Our in-house training centres and strong officer retention rate ensure the staff operating our vessels are familiar with these robust safety procedures and tanker best practices.

The V.Ships management team work hard to maintain close relationships with the Oil Majors to ensure our understanding of their evolving expectations is kept up-to-date.

As PSC officers and Rightship continue to tighten their scrutiny of the dry bulk sector; we are actively engaged in replicating the tanker sector culture of compliance and excellence within our bulk carrier fleet.  Raising the bar in this way will become increasingly important to the continued commercial success of these vessels as industry aggressively pursues an improvement in the standard of tonnage similar to that achieved by the Oil Companies with the introduction of a comprehensive vessel inspection regime in the 1970s.
